Ontario's Human Rights Code limits what a landlord may consider, and the Human Rights Commission's position is that income information cannot be used on its own to screen you out. A rigid rent-to-income cutoff applied as a hard gate has been found discriminatory. If you think you've been refused for a prohibited reason, that's worth advice.
